Project 4 – Studies on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in the Context of Climate and Environmental Change
Objectives
The objective of this subproject is to understand how four of Brazil’s climatic and phytogeographic domains (biomes) function: the Caatinga (semi-arid tropical climate), Cerrado (subhumid tropical climate), Atlantic Forest (humid tropical climate), and Pampa (subhumid subtropical climate), amid the climate crisis and anthropogenic changes to the landscape, including land use and land cover. To understand how these ecosystems function under climate change, we will determine resistance and resilience traits at different levels of biological organization (populations, biological communities, and ecosystems).
